Cruise in at Ed Debevic's -- September 14, 2001 A total of 33 Chevy enthusiasts and nine classic Impalas cruised over to Ed Debevic's diner in Phoenix for Arizona Impalas first-ever cruise-in. Several people came after seeing the announcement in the previous Saturday's Arizona Republic Wheels section. A big welcome to all the new members who signed up. Thanks for your support! In response to the terrorists attacks in New York and Washington D.C. earlier in the week, Samantha Dulude brought red, white, and blue ribbons to tie on everybody's radio antenna or rear view mirrors. She also brought candles that were lit at 7 p.m. as part of a nationwide memorial to the victims. Club president Daryl Wimer also observed a moment of silence before beginning the club's business meeting. After a classic All-American dinner served by Ed's gum-smacking, wise-cracking wait staff, the club held a short business meeting to discuss name tags and Polo shirts for club members. Both were approved. The club also decided to attend the Desert Classic Chevys show in Chandler October 13 and rent a space at the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America Swap Meet in Glendale October 27 and 28. Following the meeting, members who had driven their Impalas lined up for pictures with their cars.
